Investments Analyst

 

SUMMARY

Ballast Investments (“Ballast” or “The Company”) is seeking an Analyst to support our rapidly growing team. Under the general supervision of the Investments Team, the Analyst will be responsible for activities relating to the financial analysis and operations of Ballast’s investment portfolio.  As the Analyst gains experience and knowledge, the level of contribution from a financial analysis perspective is expected to increase.

The Company is a vertically integrated owner-operator of multifamily, student housing, and single family rental assets in the greater Western United States. The Company has several strategic partnerships with global institutional capital providers and has experienced strong growth since its founding in 2014.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Assist in preparing analyses on transactions or other ad hoc requests from investors, potential lenders, brokers, buyers, etc.
  • Lead special projects as assigned and complete high-quality deliverables
  • Respond to lenders to resolve questions and run models to show budget implications
  • Review and analyze historical and projected operational data
  • Support new acquisitions with due diligence tracking and document collection
  • Prepare and present updates and reports to Investments Team, as requested
  • Participate in weekly operations and/or construction calls as they apply to each deal
  • Research cost-effective means to optimize revenues and reduce operating/maintenance costs
  • Transition new investments from Acquisitions to Property/Asset Management
  • Assist in the monitoring and tracking of construction costs

 

Minimum Requirements and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, Real Estate, Economics, or related field
  • 1-5 years of real estate private equity, real estate development, or investment banking
  • Strong in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint; working knowledge of Yardi is a plus
