Design Engineer

 

SUMMARY

The Company is seeking a Design Engineer to support our rapidly growing team. The Design Engineer will assist in the structural assessment and inspection of existing residential buildings.

The Company provides architecture, engineering, design, and apartment remodeling services to institutional and individual clients. As the Architect and the Builder, the Company provides one seamless process for its clients. With a track record of successfully completing hundreds of high-quality apartment renovation projects, the Company is a preferred contractor in the San Francisco Bay Area. Primary Responsibilities

  • Assist in administering structural engineering reporting and guidance across an array of renovations and retrofit projects in the San Francisco Bay Area
  • Perform inspection analysis, design and documentation for retrofitting projects, structural assessments, and structural maintenance projects befitting the challenges presented by client budgets, schedule, and project constraints
  • Work with San Francisco City Department of Building Inspection
  • The employee is required to reach with arms and hands, climb or balance, and to stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl
  • Employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds
  • Vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus
  • Occasional local travel for site visits

 

Minimum Requirements and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering with coursework in structural design
  • Minimum of 2 years of structural design engineering
  • 1+ year of experience in AutoCAD intermediate level proficiency
  • Familiarity and basic understanding of common seismic resistance systems
  • Familiar with design of wood structures
  • Highly competent communication abilities (Email etiquette, remote meetings, PDF editing, etc)

 

Key Skills and Competencies

  • Engineer in Training (EIT) Certification (current)
  • Experience in construction engineering
  • Knowledgeability of design of renovation and retrofit of existing structures
